History
The Practice was first started in the early years of the 20th Century by Mr Williams (who was the father of the 1st Baron of Ogmore). He was succeeded by Mr Griff Edwards in the early 1930's.
At this time the surgery premises were situated in Merthyr Mawr Road in Bridgend in a large semi-detached property with limited parking available. In 1949, Tom Davey, (the father of one of the current partners Huw Davey) started and the partnership became Davey and Jones in 1965 with the arrival of David Jones.
The veterinary practice was primarily concerned with the agricultural sector for the next 15 years after which companion animals and horses became an integral part of the practice. Michael King and Huw Davey, two of the current partners started in 1978 and 1982 respectively, with Philip Geddes and Karen Davies joining in 1992 and 1990.
The practice name Maes Glas Veterinary Group was taken when the practice relocated to purpose built premises in August 1995 and has in addition over the years opened branch practices in Porthcawl, Pencoed, Llantrisant and more recently Barry. The practice has evolved from a four veterinary surgeon practice in the 1960's to the four partners and ten veterinary surgeons that are currently involved today in caring for pets, horses and farm animals covering a large area of South Wales.
